Volos, a coastal city in central mainland Greece, located approximately 330 km (205 miles) from Athens and 215 km (135 miles) from Thessaloniki.
Most international visitors arrive via Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos. Volos can be reached from Athens in 3–4 hours by intercity bus, train or car. When traveling by train, services terminate in Larissa, and a connecting bus to Volos is provided by the railway company as part of the rail journey.
An alternative gateway is Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia. From Thessaloniki, Volos is reachable in 2.5–3 hours by direct intercity bus or by car. Train travel from Thessaloniki also terminates in Larissa, with an onward railway-operated bus connection to Volos.
